Why Wedding Welcome Bags Matter

Welcome bags are one of the first touchpoints of a wedding weekend. They say “We’re so glad you’re here,” and give your guests everything they need to welcomed, whether they’re staying in a hotel, Airbnb, or rental property.

You also don’t have to spend a crazy amount to make an impact. With a few thoughtful Amazon finds, you can create a high end experience on a DIY budget.

12 Amazon Finds for DIY Wedding Welcome Bags

1. Canvas or Kraft Gift Bags

Skip the super cheap paper gift bags from the dollar store. These reusable jute totes look elevated and are easy to pack. If jute isn't your vibe, opt for a sturdy gift bag with cotton or ribbon handles.

How to Package Your Welcome Bags

Presentation makes all the difference and so does the placement of the products inside. Here are a few Amazon finds to make your bags look professionally curated:

  • Tissue paper is not a must but if you want to add some fluff, I recommend sticking to the color of the bag (white on white/black on black) and not get colorful--this isn't a birthday party, it's an elegant affair! Monochromatic for the win here.

  • As for the products you want to keep any "heavy items on the bottom of the bag to create a solid foundation. Put each one bottle of water on each side of the bag and "fill" the middle with the remaining items. Think of it like a game of tetris. Keep all labels forward, straight and/or facing up. Don't jus throw the items inside!

Pro Tips for Welcome Bag Success and Avoid the Stress

  • Pack early: Don’t wait until the last minute. Start assembling 1–2 weeks out and COUNT EVERYTHING! If you're threading tags through handles or ribbon, this takes longer than you think so set aside a few hours.

  • Create an assembly line of 10 gifts at a time. Line up your bags and in front of those line up each item going inside. If you have multiple hotels/venues to drop off, I recommend grouping your gifts by location and quantity.

  • Coordinate a drop off time with your hotel! Always drop off bags a day or two before your first guest checks-in.

  • Ensure your hotel has a designated section for YOUR gifts. In many instances there are multiple weddings happening so make sure your hotel staff are placing your gives in a clearly labled section.
