There’s a lot of information out there about wedding client gifts-and if you're a wedding pro, it can feel overwhelming to know where to start.
You're committed to elevating your client experience... but how do you add gifting in a way that’s thoughtful, efficient, and on-brand?
We've worked with wedding planners, photographers, DJs, florists, and venues across the country, and we're answering the most frequently asked questions from wedding pros just like you.
What’s a Good Budget for Client Gifts?
The first step is assessing your business finances. Can you sustainably afford client gifting? If not, it’s okay to hold off until you can.
Client gifting is an investment in your brand experience. While some wedding pros spend $100+ per gift, that’s not the only path forward. The average range we see is $75–$125 per gift. Some spend more, some spend less. The key is: spend what aligns with your business and your comfort level.
Pro Tip: Don’t compare your gifting budget to others-build a strategy that works for your pricing, workflow, and values.
What Types of Gifting Services Are Available?
There’s no shortage of options today, from DIY solutions to high-end gifting agencies. Here are the most common formats:
-
Curated Gift Boxes: Pre-designed, ready-to-ship boxes (like the ones in our Gift Shop).
-
Semi-Custom Gifting: You choose from our ready-to-ship boxes and we add your branding elements for a more personalized touch.
-
Full Custom Gifting: White-glove, start-to-finish design and fulfillment tailored to your business (our specialty at Lavender + Pine).
Each service tier comes with its own fees and benefits. Client gifts are an extension of your brand, so style, professionalism, and customer service should reflect your standards.
When Should I Send Client Gifts-Onboarding or Offboarding?
Both are impactful, but onboarding is most common. It sets the tone for your relationship, builds trust, and confirms your client’s investment in you was the right one.
Offboarding gifts are also meaningful and can provide a memorable final impression, especially if your services extend post-wedding or event.
Example Strategy: Send a $150 onboarding gift when the contract is signed, followed by a $75 offboarding gift as a thank-you at the end of the project.
Should I Send Gifts for Every Package I Offer?
Not necessarily. If you offer multiple service levels, here are two smart strategies:
Option 1: Tiered Budget by Package
Set gift budgets based on each package (e.g., $75 for partial planning, $125 for full service) and send curated or semi-custom gifts accordingly. This keeps things consistent and manageable.
Option 2: Gifts for Premium Packages Only
Some pros choose to only send gifts to full-service or highest-tier clients. This is a perfectly acceptable (and common!) approach that aligns with premium service expectations.
Tip: Limit yourself to 2–3 gift types max. Too many variations lead to inventory waste and logistical headaches.
Who Do I Send the Gift To-The Couple or Their Parents?
Great question! We’ve seen it done both ways, and it depends on your unique client relationship:
-
If the parents are the main point of contact, gifting them makes sense.
-
If you're working with both the couple and the parents, consider sending a primary gift to the parents and a smaller ($50 or so) gift to the couple.
The goal? Make the recipient feel appreciated and surprised. Think about who you're communicating with most and who is making the financial investment.
I’m Still Not Sure Where to Start-What’s the Next Step?
Start by asking yourself:
-
What’s my average spend per client?
-
How do I want gifting to reflect my brand?
-
Do I want to DIY, semi-customize, or fully outsource?
